OUR STORY

At the end of a long night filled with Chinatown soup dumplings and conversations on their disapproval of the Top 40 charts, the hosts and roommates, Loudmouth and K.O. Kent, were determined to bring their message of cheap eats and deep beats to more than just the annoyed waitstaff. Mott Mates is music mixtape blended live that explores modern, groovy, minimal nu-disco and indie-house sounds while integrating the lyrical hip hop influences which have established roots in both Mates' musical upbringing. We recommend listening with plenty of good food and company to ensure both edible and audible sustenance is provided to our audience.

LOUDMOUTH

Although Morgan’s musical journey experienced early success, performing upright and electric jazz bass in Atlanta, it was only after he bought his first set of turntables in 2009 that he found his groove. Gaining a few years of experience spinning for 91.1FM in Nashville, he quickly grew to fill the non-country gaps in the bars and clubs in the city. Expanding his sounds from the south to Shanghai, he continues to combine his hometown hip-hop influences with his love for modern, downtempo electronic and disco music. He currently resides in the NYC area nearby close-friend, and co-host DJ K.O. Kent.

K.O. KENT

A native of northern New Jersey, Kent grew up with a drum-kit at the foot of his bed spending countless hour recreating the gritty sounds and underground rhythms discovered on the NYC late-night radio shows. Upon attending college, Kent purchased his first pair of turntables and quickly transitioned to DJ’ing parties and holding a regular graveyard shift on Gettysburg College Radio - focusing on the sampling relationship between Funk, Jazz and Hip-Hop. Traveling the world working in the fashion industry for the past 5 years, Kent has a pulse on the global themes and the open-minded approach necessary for developing an engaging and alternative set-list. He currently resides in the NYC area nearby mortal enemy, and co-host DJ Loudmouth.
